The following paperwork will be required of any athlete to participate on the track team. All forms (except #3) may be downloaded from the HPISD website (hpisd.org) under the athletics section. Click U.I.L. Athletes should have all paperwork completed at the beginning of the school year. We will let you know if we are missing paperwork from your file.
U.I.L. Physical Form signed and dated by a physician. The form must be dated on or after May 16, 2015.

2016 GIRLS TRACK & FIELD TRY OUT WEEK
- go over daily warm-ups and stretching routine as a group.
- explain the different training groups based on distances and splitting workouts for athletes with varying distances during the typical week.
-1600M run: this run is by choice of the athletes. (If a student walks at any point during this run, they will not make the track team)
- Long Jump
- Pole Vault
- 500M : EVERYONE MUST COMPLETE THIS 500M RUN.(if a student walks during any part of the 500M run, the student will not make the track team)
- High Jump
- 100M : this run is by choice of the athletes.
- Triple Jump
- Pole Vault
- ALL MAKE UPS.
- TEAM POSTED AFTER SCHOOL.
7th tryouts will begin promptly at 7:15am and run through the athletic period until 8:30am.
8th tryouts will begin during 8th period athletics and finish at 4:45 pm

Meets will be on Wednesday or Thursday evenings. The district meet is on a Friday night.
Times and dates are subject to change at any time based on district schedules, weather, addition of meets, etc.
Each athlete must attend ALL TRYOUTS AND BE ATTEND ALL TRACK MEETS TO BE A PART OF THE TRACK TEAMS. HPMS athletic sports MUST take precedence over outside activities such as club sports (i.e. soccer, lacrosse, etc.), cheerleading, dance, etc.
**District Schedules are made late in the spring of 2015 and are subject to have minor changes. Athletes are required to attend ALL meets even if they are changed due to district conflicts.
Each athlete will try out for each meet in a desired event/s. We will take the top 3 athletes and an occasional alternate runner to each meet. Tuesday's prior to each Thursday or Friday meet, we will post the "qualifiers" for the upcoming meet in the locker room. Every week, athletes will be involved in time trials, jump offs, etc, to qualify for each meet.
Each athlete can be entered into a total of 5 events. (3 running and 2 field; or 3 field and 2 running). Running events take precedence over field events during the track meet. For example, an athlete may be running the 300m. hurdles and also participating in the triple jump. If the events are scheduled at the same time, the athlete will check in at the triple jump and then run his race and return to jump.
