I love being a teacher at MIS!  I attended Highland Park schools myself, all three of my own children currently attend Highland Park schools, and I am so privileged to be back at MIS as a teacher. I can't wait to get to know each one of my students as we learn and grow together this year. 

I attended Armstrong Elementary and the "old" MIS, and I graduated from HPHS in 1993. I then studied at Texas Christian University(GO FROGS!), and graduated in 1997 with a BA in Education. From 1998 to 2004 I worked in the Special Education Department at MIS/HPMS.  I co-taught(in class support) in General Education and also taught Language Arts and Math resource classes. While teaching, I earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education with an Educational Diagnostician Certification from Texas Women’s University. I “retired” in 2004 to start my family, but I’m glad to be back at MIS!

While attending Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth , I met my husband, Blake Bassett. Blake and I have three daughters. Twins Ellie and Caroline are 11th graders at HPHS, and Brynn is in 9th grade at HPMS. In addition to the humans in our house, I also live with one Boykin spaniel named Miller (7 years old) and a Black Lab named Molly(3.5 years old).

Blake, the girls, and I love to spend time with friends and family. We enjoy going to the lake together, where we especially love skiing, wakesurfing, and (of course) TUBING!! In the summer, we escape the Texas heat by taking in the crisp, COOL air of the Colorado mountains. In my free time, I enjoy exercising. I also love singing, whether or not I know the words to the songs (just ask my kids....).

This is going to be a great year!! XO
