Language Other Than English

The Languages Other Than English (LOTE) program provides students with opportunities to develop communication skills, cultural awareness, and global perspectives through the study of world languages. Students build proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing while exploring the cultures and traditions of the communities where these languages are spoken.. Students have opportunities to participate in art, music, theatre, band, choir, and orchestra.

In grades 5 and 6, students are introduced to Spanish through exploratory coursework that develops foundational language skills and cultural understanding. Students engage in interactive activities that build confidence in communicating in a new language while fostering an appreciation for diverse cultures.

In grades 7 and 8, students may continue their language studies through Spanish Foundations as well as high school credit courses in Spanish and French. These courses provide students with a strong foundation in language acquisition while preparing them for advanced world language opportunities in high school and beyond.
