Exam for Acceleration/Credit by Exam

Thank you for inquiring about Exam for Acceleration. We have changed our process to make it easier for you to register for Exam for Acceleration while HPISD schools are closed. After consulting with your student’s counselor regarding Exam for Acceleration processes and prerequisites, please visit the Exam for Acceleration webpage to complete the appropriate Google form:
Step 1: There are separate forms for incoming 1st-5th graders and 6th-12th graders. Please select the appropriate form to complete. Once you have completed the form and submitted it, the Assessment Department will obtain approval from your child’s counselor and principal. Please refer to the information and instruction documents on the Exam for Acceleration webpage regarding commonly asked questions.
Step 2: Each exam costs $35. Please mail your check payable to Highland Park ISD to:

Checks must be postdated by the registration date deadline:
May 1, 2020 for June 2 & 3 assessments
June 18, 2020 for July 21 & 22 assessments
At this time, we are unsure if the Exam for Acceleration assessments will occur at the high school, as originally planned, or if they will be administered online. The HPISD Assessment Department is waiting for instructions from University of Texas and will communicate decisions regarding the testing environment as soon as possible.
Note: Exams for acceleration may not be taken for courses requiring state EOC exams.

** Please note, if you choose to take an exam 'Out of District' it still must be approved by the Campus Principal and HPISD Director of Assessment to receive credit.
