Mythology Composition Project Options Provided. Students will have some class time to work on individual and group productions, but students will need to work on this production on their own time as well. Students will need to purchase Bad Boy, a memoir by Walter Dean Myers, by Wednesday, Jan. 29th. The books are scheduled to be in the School Supply Room by Monday, Jan. 27th. However, if you wanted to order it on-line or check Half-Priced Books, I wanted to give you enough time to do so.

Social Issues paper and project introduced- Notes on paper and project given along with a listing of Social Issues. Students will select a social issue to research tomorrow. (We will have a lottery.) Issues can only be selected once in each class-no duplicates. Make sure you have 6 or 7 issues that you would be interested in researching as you may not get your first choice.

ANNOTATING THE GIVER bookmarks were given to students, and we annotated the first page together in class.

Warm up: Your identity- What makes up your identity? Student completed a graphic organized to brainstorm characteriastics of their identities.
Group work: The Giver Connections group activity- Table groups brainstormed pros and cons of a big family and a small family. Each group decided which one they prefer and why. Write in paragraph form. Groups will present next week.
Class discussion of Chapters 1 -2. Annotations checked.
Friday & Monday (9-30)
Students will watch The Oustiders movie and draw comparisons between the novel and the movie. Comparison page given in class. On Moodle if you need another copy.
Week of September 16th
Monday
The Outsiders vocabulary page was returned. Student should have written one sentences for each of the 20 vocabulary words. Students will be tested over these vocabulary words next Tuesday, Sept. 24th.
