Basketball Results

Tryout participants,

Please read the following closely rather than just checking for your number. Below is the list of the tryout numbers of boys who have made the 2025-2026 8th Grade Raiders Basketball team. Congratulations to all of you- we are very much looking forward to getting to work! Please join us tomorrow for practice from 2:40-4:30. We also have a parent meeting for those that make the team at 5:15pm tomorrow. I want to let you know that this is always the toughest part of our year as coaches. Cutting so many young men is not any easy task and is one I do not take lightly. I assure you that during the tryout process we are observing all players in all areas of the game. I try to encompass every aspect of the game into the tryout in a variety of ways that also makes it fun for the young men. We have had all hands on deck including our varsity assistant coach, all middle school basketball coaches and other middle school coaches helping out in the process.

Every year talented players don’t make the team that have a passion for the game. I urge you to talk with your son before tryouts, as I will each day during tryout week, that not making the team in 8th grade is not the end of the road in terms of their basketball career. I hope to get the point across that if basketball is something they really do have a passion for and wish to continue in the future, the possibility of not making the team this year should only drive and motivate them to work hard and return to tryouts next year in 9th grade. It makes me happy to see players who were cut in 8th grade make the team in high school.

Lastly, if your son did not make the team we ask that they personally email us rather than parents. We ask that they email us for feedback and be patient with us getting back to them as we discussed today after the tryout. We are happy to provide individual feedback but do not discuss comparison to other players or have parent communication in regards to tryout results as this was a closed tryout.
