More About Me

Why school psychology? I want to support and "give back" to my community. My family is the most important thing to me, including my school and community family. I am proud to be a part of the work that Highland Park ISD is doing to support families and each other.

I started my journey of study in 2001, shortly after receiving my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. I completed my Masters of Education in Educational Psychology, defended, and presented my thesis at the Mid-western Educational Research Association Conference in Columbus, Ohio. I went on to receive my Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in School Psychology in 2006 at Wichita State University.

During that time, I participated in volunteer work with children, including mentorship and counseling. I also worked part-time in community mental health services, taught undergraduate level courses at the university level, and worked as a full-time substitute teacher and instructional aide for a Positive Behavior Support (PBS) special education classroom. Prior to moving to Texas, I served as a school psychologist for a small, rural district near Wichita, Kansas for 6-years. After receiving my license to practice school psychology in Texas, I served 5-years in Irving ISD and 2-years in Dallas ISD with the Mental Health Services Department.

During my time as a school psychologist, I have presented research or provided training at the national, state, and local level. I have gained 15-years of experience in evaluating children with disabilities and providing recommendations for their continued progress. I hope to continue my journey of study one day, to receive my doctorate in the field of psychology.

My favorite part of my career, however, is the possibility to bring a smile to the children, staff, and families I serve.
