Entering 8th Grade
The eighth-grade English teachers, in an effort to create a summer reading program rooted in the best research on literacy, have implemented a choice summer reading list. We hope this program will offer students an authentic reading experience, encourage students to self-identify as readers, tap into the social nature of reading and adolescents, and set the tone for reading opportunities offered through the year.
Our list is designed to reach a wide spectrum of interests, maturity levels, and abilities we see in our readers. Not every book will be a good match for every reader, but we hope all our students can find a book that will foster growth, enjoyment, and a commitment to life-long reading.
