If you have school-sanctioned MIS/HPMS news that you would like to submit for consideration for the Raider Weekly, please complete the form below. Required fields marked with an asterisk* and all content is subject to the guidelines outlined below, and final approval is at the discretion of the administration, PTA Presidents and Raider Weekly editor.

The deadline for weekly submissions is 12 p.m. on Wednesday. 

The Raider Weekly newsletter is emailed to parents on Sunday afternoons at 4:00 PM during the school year. For this to happen, the Communications Chair must receive all content, submitted to [email protected], by 12:00 PM the PRIOR WEDNESDAY, to allow review time for Dr. Moran and Dr. Miller. Exceptions to the deadline are made for coaches and sports chairs as these events can take place through Saturday each week. Please review our complete Raider Weekly Guidelines found at the bottom of this form.

Please note: For as long as social distancing is encouraged by local and state health authorities, HPISD Communications will only run photos in eNews that display individuals taking appropriate safety measures to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

What should be included with your submission?

  • An article, preferably in WORD rather than a PDF, that provides all details - event, date(s), hours, costs, directions, contact information for questions, etc. Please note, we are unable to open .PUB files.
  • Hyperlink to another website or downloadable form, in the original format, that might be needed by parents. If there is a form that goes with the announcement, send the form in a PDF format to be linked to the document.
  • Any accompanying photos/logos (.JPG or .PNG). Please limit to 2 pictures at maximum. Please send photos in image files, not embedded in a word document.
  • Names should be alphabetized, i.e., list of parent volunteers

MIS/HPMS Raider Weekly Guidelines

Raider logoThe Raider Weekly newsletter is emailed to parents on Sunday afternoons at 4:00 PM during the school year. For this to happen, the Communications Chair must receive all content, submitted to [email protected], by 12:00 PM the PRIOR WEDNESDAY, to allow review time for Dr. Moran and Dr. Miller.

Exceptions to the deadline are made for coaches and sports chairs as these events can take place through Saturday each week. Newsletter “Real Estate,” in order of appearance:

  1. MIS/HPMS - top section promotes important information pertinent to both schools
  2. PTA – information of interest to parents including event and meeting announcements and fundraisers
  3. #hpraiderlife -
  4. 5th and 6th Grade News - MIS-specific news and announcements (including Raider Recognition)
  5. 7th and 8th Grade News - HPMS-specific news and announcements (including Raider Recognition)
  6. Fine Arts - section to share highlights from the Fine Arts departments
  7. Sports - section for posting HPMS game scores, results, accolades and photos
  8. Recent Reminders - contains events and promotions that have already been featured in the top section of the newsletter but may still need a little extra promotion
  9. Celebrate Faculty and Staff - birthdays/staff celebrations; runs the first issue of each month
  10. Snaps and Claps - special “thank yous” or acknowledgments to volunteers or faculty and staff
  11. News to Share - announcements from outside organizations that interact with students from our schools (see Outside Organization guidelines below)

 

SUBMISSION

In an effort to keep the Raider Weekly content fresh, informative and palatable for our readers, we ask that you plan accordingly for your upcoming events/alerts/promotions:

  • The upper real estate sections (MIS/HPMS, MIS-specific and HPMS-specific) will only run for TWO WEEKS before being relocated to the “Recent Reminders” section or deleted entirely.
  • All school-specific events or deadline-driven announcements can run for THREE weeks unless directed otherwise by the administration.
  • Look at the calendar and determine the two Raider Weekly issues you would like to utilize and submit details by the PRIOR WEDNESDAY, 12:00 pm of the first date. *Please note, News to Know emails are reserved for school-driven messages and are unlikely to be used to promote PTA or non-school specific events unless deemed necessary by the administration.

NOTABLES

  • Internal Guidelines: As much as we want to promote each of our student’s wins in all of their activities at school, Raider Weekly does not feature who made the roster for any school team or club (e.g., we would not feature the roster highlighting who made the (insert sport) team, or who made the cut for a choir/drama audition). We will however feature team/individual accomplishments and/or highlight activities that the students are doing to prepare for an upcoming competition/concert/performance/meet/game/match or everyday fun in that extracurricular activity.

  • Outside Organization Guidelines: As much as we want to support the efforts of other schools in our district, as well as outside/affiliated organizations and clubs where our students can get involved, the Raider Weekly is focused solely on activities that happen at MIS/HPMS as part of the school curriculum, its clubs and athletics program. 
  • The only exception to the above, is that we are able to promote registration information (no photos, please) for outside clubs directly related to HPISD TWO times during the school year (once in spring and once in fall). We can incorporate the team logo if sent in a separate jpg in the News to Share section with the registration information.
    • For example, HP Crew, HP Girls Lacrosse, and the HP Clay Team would be approved to submit information regarding registration one time in the spring and one time in the fall. The submission will only feature registration details, they will not include individual or team news, regarding games, awards, etc. 

    • Please keep in mind that all content is subject to the guidelines outlined above, and final approval is at the discretion of the administration, PTA Presidents and Raider Weekly editor.

  • If applicable, please make sure your event is listed on the school calendar as soon as possible. You can do this by emailing Dana Bush at [email protected]
  • Check your WEBPAGE to make sure the information is correct and current.
