The HPMS eighth-grade advanced art class, led by James Jenkins, is collaborating with Bradfield kindergarten teacher Pattye Knight's class to produce claymation narratives. Both classes have read the same books that focus on social and emotional issues, and the classes are using student-centered design to create their own narrative together using the same theme from the books they read.
They will create a storyboard throughout the month and will use Google Hangout to talk about the progress. The eighth-graders will visit Bradfield on Nov. 28 to create the claymation.
Knight is a STEAM pilot teacher this year and Jenkins is STEAM mentor teacher. The project they have designed helps give the students a chance to work together across different age groups.
