Frequently Asked Questions
Absences
All assignments must be made up. It is important that your child have very limited absences. We do a lot of activities in class that are difficult to make-up. State law limits the amount of absences children can have.
- S/he that has been absent have a period equal to the number of days missed to complete make-up assignments.
- S/he can can obtain missed assignments from Google Classroom.
Grades
- Major Assessments include major projects. They are 60% of the content grade.
- Minor Assessments include minor projects and quizzes. They are 40% of the content grade.
Homework
Students may bring projects home for homework when they are not completed at school.
Sketchbook
Students need a 9" x 12" spiralbound sketchbook to store notes and sketches.
Personal Electronic Devices
Students may not bring their personal electronic devices (iPad, Chromebook, or laptop), phones, Apple wathes, or Airpods to class for school use.
Restroom and Drinking Fountain
Children have opportunities to go to the restroom independently. Only one girl and one boy may go at a time. They will check out and in on the seating chart to show that someone has gone.
Seating
The class is organized by tables. Students may choose their seat at the beginning of the quarter for the rest of the quarter. Seats are recorded on a seating chart.
Supplies
Children will need their Chromebook, a pencil, and sketchbook. Other supplies are optional.
Tardies
Attendance is checked daily. Children must be in the classroom when the tardy bell rings. It is important that your child arrives to school/ class on time and prepared. Tardiness causes disruptions in the classroom and your child can miss out in important activities. Tardies are documented on communication cards.
