I grew up in Waco and went to Midway ISD and Baylor University, where I participated in choir and band (trumpet). My primary instrument is the piano, which I have played since 1st grade. I taught college music classes for 11 years before coming to HP. This is my fourth year at MIS, and I'm so glad to be a Raider!
I direct the music for our 5th and 6th grade musical each year including Rudolph (2022) and Annie (2023). This year's production will be The Sound of Music. I have also served as the coach for UIL Music Memory for 5th and 6th grades.
About 5th Grade Music
5th grade music at MIS is the capstone of our preschool through 5th grade elementary music program that started with our amazing HPISD elementary school music teachers. In music class, we sing, move, dance, and play so many instruments including Orff mallet instruments, ukuleles, Boomwhackers, hand drums, and more. We also have a state of the art piano lab where we learn how to play chords to popular songs with both hands in various patterns. We also learn about our future 6th grade elective choices including band, choir, and orchestra.
