HP JV Tennis Tryouts
***IMPORTANT. Players may choose to join the JV Team without trying out only if they meet the below criteria:
Girls with a 1.5 UTR or above
Boys with a 2.5 UTR or above

HP Tennis Varsity Tryouts
Players in the HP Tennis Tryouts will be categorized based on their UTR by midnight on July 28, 2024.
IMPORTANT: ***Tryouts will be closed. Athletes only on premises. No spectators onsite whatsoever. No parents or coaches are allowed, only HP Varsity Tennis coaches (Coach Jimenez, Coach Hogan, and Coach McFarlin).
You will be placed by your UTR level.

Boys UTR: 0 to 4.99

Times: 6:30 AM check-in followed by 7 AM start time.
Transportation: All players are responsible for their own
transportation.
Food and water: Food, water, and snacks will NOT be provided.
Play is continuous, players must have ample food and water for the day.
Tournament: Round robin play within the groupings.
We will select a certain amount of players
from July 31st grouping to move up into the
August 1st-3rd grouping.

2024-25 HP Varsity Tennis Information
- Returning varsity players automatically stay on the
HP Varsity Team and DO NOT have to tryout if:
IMPORTANT: ***Tryouts will be closed. Athletes only on premises. No spectators onsite whatsoever. No parents or coaches are allowed. Only HP Varsity Tennis coaches only. ( Coach Jimenez, Coach Hogan, and Coach McFarlin)
- All incoming Freshmen and Transfers must try out unless:
- Boys UTR: 8 & up
- Girls UTR: 7 & up
- All seniors will be permitted to try out for the Varsity Team. If a
JV Player has been on the JV Team for two or more years,
coaches will make special permission for senior to participate
on the JV Team, if they do not make varsity.
- Participation in the Tryouts must be completed to qualify for
Varsity/JV Tennis Teams.
- Mandatory Varsity Practice August 5-8th at the HP Outdoor
Tennis Courts.
- Varsity Pictures (TBD) after tryouts. If player makes the
Varsity Tennis Team, pictures for the Team Poster will be taken before the start of school. To be included on the poster, players must be in
attendance. No exceptions will be made.
- Varsity Informational Parent Meeting (TBD) after tryouts (mandatory).
2024-25 HP JV Tennis Information
- JV Team rosters will be sent out by email after tryouts are
completed.
- JV parent meeting will be (TBD) 1st week of school.
- JV Pictures (TBD) after tryouts. If player makes the makes
JV Team, pictures for the Team Poster will be taken before the
start of school. To be included on the poster, players must be in
attendance. No exceptions will be made
- JV practices 7:20-8:20 AM (M-TH) starting the 2nd week of school.
- All JV players will meet upstairs at the Seay Indoor Tennis facility
at 8:10am during the first week of school.
6 JV practice throughout the school year. Official JV season is in
the spring. The coaches determine a certain amount of players can participate in a JV event (The option for participation belongs to the coaches, not the players).
- Some JV players will get an opportunity to play in Varsity District
matches in the Fall 2023.
HPMS Raider Tennis 2023-2024
Raider Tennis Program Mission: To teach, develop, and foster a winning tennis tradition on and off the court that aligns with excellence established at HPHS Tennis Program and the commitment to get student athletes ready to contribute at the next level.
Raider Tennis Practice
Practices will mirror what students can expect to see at HPHS Varsity Tennis Practice. The focus will be on learning doubles play, strategy, fitness, and the commitment to what it takes to win state championships. With hard work, for those students who desire to play at HPHS, the transition will be seamless for those who make the team. This streamlined approach is by design and in conjunction with HPHS tennis coaching staff to maximize student athlete success at a state championship program. Students will be given the blue print for success, as well as the guidance to follow it, and the rest is up to the hard work and dedication of the athlete.
Important Information HPMS Tennis Team
- Students who are part of Junior Development Programs outside of school will be challenged by Raider tennis practices. The two can work hand in hand with the development of the student athlete.
Team Composition/Information
- Both 7th and 8th Grade boys and girls compete together on the tennis team.
- No specific uniform is required for practice. Proper tennis attire is required.
- There is a specific uniform for matches against other schools.
- All HPMS Raider tennis matches will be in the Spring.

Summer HPMS Tennis 2024
All players are highly encouraged to play both UTR and USTA tournaments. Players are also strongly encouraged to be involved in a junior development program somewhere. The Seay Tennis Center here at HP offers several programs. I am available for private and small group lessons during the summer through the Seay Tennis Center. If you have any questions about training or what it takes to make the high school team in the future please don’t hesitate to contact me by email.
