Project Respect

What is Project Respect?
ALL MIS & HPMS students who are interested are welcome to be a part of Project Respect.  The commitment is low with only about 5 meetings throughout the entire school year - meeting from 7:30-7:50 a.m. in the North (5/6) Gym.  This is a wonderful chance for students to grow as leaders, interact with similar-minded peers, and learn from high school leaders.

Project Respect

Student Council members serve as mentors to the younger students. Through this program, the young leaders would be emboldened to serve as leaders on their campus and helping to build up new leaders, as well as promoting a positive culture district-wide.

Mission: Highland Park Leadership Academy exists to provide leadership opportunities for elementary through high school students, with the intent of training high school students to mentor younger students, so that they soon become the future leaders.

Students will attend monthly meetings with the HPHS Student Council sponsor and HPHS Student Council students. These meetings will have the purpose of training these chosen students as leaders on their campus, with the idea of them serving as a source of examples for their peers, as well as building up other leaders within their campus. A culture of respect and acceptance will be of the upmost importance.

We are also choosing the theme of “Project Respect.” The goal is to create a sense of community, an attitude of respect for everyone. We would like this to be a district-wide campaign and one that continues on for years, such that Highland Park is known for having an atmosphere of inclusivity and respect.
