Drama Courses
DRAMA 8 (FA1DR8) This course offers students a deeper development of acting techniques, technical theater execution, play-writing, and directing. Students will perform a series of short scenes, monologues, and a technical theater design project for the first nine weeks. The second nine weeks, students will write 10-minute plays that will be student-directed and performed at the end of the semester for parents. All are welcome to sign up for 8th grade Drama! Prior experience is not necessary and there are no auditions.
DRAMA HONORS (SPOTLIGHT)(FA1DRH) This is an acting class. The course will focus on all aspects of producing plays. Students will develop their acting and technical theater skills, producing multiple plays. There will be two outside of class performances, a play for the district 3rd graders and an evening performance second semester. This course requires a degree of commitment beyond most elective classes. Attendance at all practices and performances is mandatory. The performance standard is high, and active daily participation is expected. Sign Up D105 for Auditions by February 14th.
MUSICAL THEATER (PLAYBILL) (FA1DRM) This is a singing, dancing, and acting class! Throughout the year we will focus on all aspects of musical theater. Students will learn to express themselves through music, dance, and drama. There will be two performances, a Broadway Showcase, and a Spring Musical. This class requires a degree of commitment beyond most elective classes. attendance at all practices and performances is mandatory. The performance standard is high, and active daily participation is expected. Sign up D105 for Auditions by February 14th.
